Todays Rainy Catch

MMMMM..yummy!

photo opt.

Not much on today, just mushrooming in the rain...thinking about the Trans Iowa mates and thier battle with the elements. Sounds like they are calling it a day in Algona, still waiting to hear who made it there first. Looks like rain here tomorrow also... our creeks are going to come out soon....damn it.

Ink Addiction

This one was in a tender spot:)

Just a Simple Man folks:)

This guy came in to drop off a Salsa SS ring for Dan to design a bad ass tattoo around it, I've seen the idea and its cool. This will be Donny's first session:)
While sitting in the barbers chair getting inked I tend to just stare out the all glass front and people watch. Drake Relays are going on so the area is full of folks, while gaucking I spot this man.

I had to have a picture and a story.... this guy whom didn't want to give a name has been hit twice on his bike, has had 2 brain surgeries and now wheres a motorcycle helmet to help save his cabassa incase of another car vs. bike assult. Damn looks like its hot in that thing:) All is good now go back in and get tatt finished. Went home to kick it with Teri Sue, we're now debating on the camping trip as rain is coming in all weekend long , cancelled the down syndrome test, I hung this new piece of equiptment, then we called it an evening. Still didn't get my lockout on the Salsa....damn I'm lazy:)

every cyclist should have one of these for those dark beers.

Sascha hasn't gas'd up since March 8th and I think thats pretty kick ass!! You go gurl!!

Cycling caps

I have a somewhat addictive personality although some doctors say there is no such thing. Well I'm addicted to cycling caps among many, many other thangs, everytime I see one that I don't have in my collection....... well I want it. Last night upon leaving the shop I spot one that needed to be in my home collection, and now it is. My reason for hitting this subject is that this guy makes custom wool bad ass caps, and just happens to be an earthy type of cat that I personally dig. Go surf his site and order some up. Here is one that personally fits the bill with me, would look good on while snowboarding out west:)

If your surfing this site you need to hit Gwadzilla's, this mate always has good shit:)

Riding the "Rail"

Before I went to work last night I hit Denmans for a trail check as the Taco Ride was going down and they all meet at the shop. Conditions were at 90% when I went through at 3pm for my quicky loop, corners were fun to drift at speed and you picked up just a little dirty brown on the flats but nothing to hurt the tread. After work Wild Bill stopped in to go hit Denmans with me before our heading to Giffs 5th Street Pub for Tacos with the boy's. After a couple post work beers we hit the trail, now the conditions we're perfect. Riding on rails... this is when the trail is at its absolute fastest. Corners were stupid fast tonight, cleaned every log at speed like I was riding in a dream, there is no doubt WB and I were in the 18 min. range through Denmans. When we were done I was so light headed..... I think those 2 Bud heavies caught up to me:)

Today I get me newest piece of INK, Dan and I have a great relationship going on, he brings in the old bikes, I fixem up, he slings ink for my time, PERFECT RELATIONSHIP!!:) Finially going to get my lockout put on the SID tonight also, hell I've had this thing for over a month now....procrastinator! Oh well.

Down Syndrome test..... seems alot of folks get told they are at risk for this in there babies, after many (3-4) times of going back to doctors office for more tests, the end result being their child is just fine. WTF!! Teri was a little high on the test chart so they want her to go back again and give some more blood......define a little high.....sorry sir she'll just have to come in....WTF! Screw you lady..... Teri and I will talk and if I get me way she won't be wasting her time, and our money on this, when in the end your child may or maynot have it.

Tonight I ride

Ok so lastnight I was going to ride but the weather gave me more than enough good reasons to say......screw that it suck out there. Ended up going home and checking the camper over (supplies inside and what not) for our little trip to Lake Red Rock this weekend. North Overlook here I come, should have some great jumping pics. when I get back. Going out tonight for some urbanna goodness been awhile since I actually put a couple hrs. in. Most likely be very low key with lots of skinnies involved.

Down Snydrom test in early pregnancy........ this seems to be a big F-ING scam of sorts. I'll report more on my findings at a later time, seems its not an exact science.

Yes I'm a Freegan

As The Two Wheeled Locust would put it.....free shit is good shit. I scored some

jumper cables and a fashionable bag to carry them with at the expense of this woman. Some might just think that is plain ole not right, while the simple folks like meself see it as just fine. I'm sure I know who will be removing all of this poor ladies shit out of the field, not her...although its said to be her responsibility. After reading some of the garbage mail most of which came from "The Department of Corrections", I'm sure the last thing on her mind is her garbage and a burnt car....catch me drift.

Went out to see an old friend that just happens to be homeless and has lived by our trails well since before I met him 6yrs ago. Greg is a pretty cool ole fart, rides his bikes everywhere, picks up cans from around the junction, mows a few yards for extra cash, don't drink, rolls his own smokes, and reads anything and everything he finds. Aghh the simple things in life. HG (homeless Greg) comes into the shop sometimes for tubes and what not so Greg Rasmussen helps him out with some free goods when he can. That's pretty cool. Here is a pic of camp HG

HG and my buddy Ray Vaughn shoot'n the shit.

Since the first time I met HG I've always envied him for the simple life he lives. All the things that most of us today couldn't live without, ole HG just dumpster dives and takes what he needs or will use and gets by just fine. Be thankful for what ya have mates:) Speaking of thankfulness my next tattoo is along the lines of being thankful, gonna look something like this.

replace initials with Thankful and you have it.

I'm riding tonight after the shop closes if anybody wants to join.

Crazy Weekend

I don't have alot of time here at work right now and my home comp. is on the fritz again, so I'll run down a fast one.

Friday nights chopper races went down good, looked like all that participated had a good time. I believe that there was more beer drank then the bikes being raced:)

Line'm up

Maharry leading threw the back corner

Sat. posed an interesting day as my car cost me $900 to get fixed which started out as $500. Then I get a call from Sammy saying there is a car smoldering on Dirty Express.....WTF. I get off from the bike shop and go check it out....yep thats a burnt car alright....fucking dipshits.

WTF!!

and this

they through all the shit out of it then burnt it.....WTF!!

One good thang from Sat. was I ran into a couple hikers carrying out some trash from the trial, I like seeing that.

this is Linda and her daughter if you see them in Denmans thank them:)

With my car expences I didn't race on sunday just tooled around with Teri and Ray Vaughn. Mowed the yard, brought the camper home for spring cleaning, thats pretty much it. Riding tonight maybe, I might be mowing as the trail is needing it now before it gets out of hand, just waiting for the Ok from Water Works.

Almost Legal again

I've been doing this OWI class since Monday from 6-10, then Tues., and last night as the finial class. Now all I have to do is pass the damn test and I'm once again legal,... damn it's been 3yrs. Riding to this class has been my time to ride a whole whopping 8 miles a night for this week. Urbananna goodness though, and last night I found something new to try and ride although its place of residence isn't the most low key.

Oh yeah, nice and long with a 5ft. gap jump, and water on both sides if ya case it.

Looks like I'll be trying this one on a Sunday:)

also on this route there happens to be some dirt trail extacy in the form of a little piece of creek surfing which has to be made by the local area BMX'rs. Thank you, ya little punk rock stars:)

"Hey man,.....you ever hit any nice jumps with your bike?"

Creek surfing:)

all in all this little piece is about a block long, but it will leave you smiling and wanting more. Don't forget the Chopper Races tonight. Out.

Ink, Ink I say!

Today at the shop I got lucky:) Heather Myer-Davis came in, was shopping around when I noticed she had some cycling ink. Saweet, I ask.... I get..... Heather kicks ass......and her tatt sits above it:) Teri and I met Heather at one of the not so critical mass rides in the city.

A nice piece for the collection.

Scatter brain

Damn....... I'm freaking running around crazy it seems. Sunday after the Alley Cat, Teri went to her sisters house for Easter and to talk about daycare, sis just happens to run one:) I'm home Sunday afternoon making some jalepeno pasta salad when Teri gets home (I've just waken from an hour nappy poo, due to few early beers from Alley Cat), we start to talk about all that was said.......I'm waiting,...........ok how much??

$400 a month....... saving us money but still not cheap when you have an additction, and all the baby stuff, trying to buy a home, working 2 jobs, not riding much, missing quality time with Teri, and much, much more going through the head. Some where in the time between our talking of this and bed, then morning, I didn't sleep much at all, thinking $400 bones a week..... thats $1600 a month...... I need another job!! Monday comes I haven't slept a freaking wink, I'm tired, still thinking what the hell are we going to do, I tell Teri I'm not going in to work today.

I stay home and start crunching bills this one being first, lets see $1600x12+ roughly 21,000 a yr......holy shit, Teri needs to quite her job and start a freaking daycare. I call Teri in a freak out only for her to say...... you dumbass it's $400 a month.!!! WHAT!! Whhheeeewww. We can swing that.

So there is my funny moment of the week, and yes I am a dumbass sometimes. Taco Wed. tonight hope to see some of ya.

Change

You may figure out that I really have a deep tie with this song:)

Blind Melons: Change

I don’t feel the suns comin’ out today
Its staying in, it’s gonna find another way.
As I sit here in this misery, I don’t
Think I’ll ever see the sun from here.
And oh as I fade away,
They’ll all look at me and say, and they’ll say,
Hey look at him! I’ll never live that way.
But that’s okay
They’re just afraid to change.
When you feel your life ain’t worth living
You’ve got to stand up and
Take a look around you then a look way up to the sky.
And when your deepest thoughts are broken,
Keep on dreaming boy, cause when you stop dreamin’ it’s time to die.
And as we all play parts of tomorrow,
Some ways will work and other ways we’ll play.
But I know we all can’t stay here forever,
So I want to write my words on the face of today.
And then they’ll paint it
And oh as I fade away,
They’ll all look at me and they’ll say,
Hey look at him and where he is these days.
When life is hard, you have to change.

think "No Rain" no pun intended for tomorrows Alley Cat. Teri and I are just getting ready to head out and finialize the stops.

Fixed Shroomen Mobile

Put the panniers on the fixie a couple days ago, now she's ready for Morel season:) I have today off from work so I'm getting ready to go out. To all my Iowa City friends I hope you all are ok. I called Andy Lueke around 6am this morning, he is ok, most of the damage was 3 blocks from his house, with flipped over cars and other destruction from a tornados path.

New Tattoos

This just in:

brian,
hope these tickle your fancy. The flaming skull on my sholder/chest has a crank arm stuck in the head, the other two are on my quads. the engine might not appear to be cycling related, due to its car nature, but it was done with cycling in mind. the other, old sailor style. enjoy. nat

Sweet piece! I love this shit:)

The motor isn't cycling related......until you put motor on said cyclists quad then we all know what he's saying:)

Thanks Nat!
