Catch up Time:)

Went home sick on Friday mid morning...felt like uber shit. Couch potato for the rest of the day. Come Saturday morning I just wasn't feeling like going to the CITA work day so I bailed, ended up putt-putting with Johnny C to Adel and back....very lazy the rest of the afternoon and evening. Well I did manage to put the Surly rack on the commuter:)

My batteries just didn't have too much juice over the weekend. Sunday morning I took Bianchi for a hike through Denmans Woods for a looksee at what damage had been done. It wasn't too bad at all...lots of trees and debree is purdy much it. All the logs but a couple were gone...but don't worry we'll get'em back in:) Also picked up another mini bike for some beer drinking biking fun activities.

Sunday afternoon I had some time to finally build the spin trike....its a totally different beast to navigate:) I finally have a big wheel for the Big Wheel Rally in December:)

New/Old Bag

Picked up a free handle bar bag from the shop....funny story. Around 3yrs ago I wanted a bag for my rear rack. Greg Rasmussen just happen to have a couple bags that had been laying around the shop for a few years. He offered them up to me, being the freegan that I am I obliged. One was a Cannondale thee other was a Schwinn, thee Cannondale was a isulated cooler for the rear and the Schwinn was a front handle bar bag. I was only looking for a rear at the time so I just left the Schwinn. Now fast forward to Thursday of last week. I'm fumbling around the back of the shop and spot the dusty old Schwinn bag....I think about this touring thing and how some of those bikes had handle bar bags...sawheat. So I grab the bag, give it a shake, and feel something in it. I think its just the mounting bracket but open it to make sure. WhaLa....it was the mounting bracket.....along with $46.73 in greenbacks and change...all wauded up like the looks of a drunken night. SaWheat...picked up a free bag and got paid!! Its all about the little things mates.
Stopped at the shop last night to pick up a front Jandd Extreme rack....and we were sold out....just minutes before I came in...and of course QBP is out of stock right now....damn late shoppers of RAGBRAI. All good cause I'll have one soon enough. Riding the dirt tonight after I get off from the shop...7pm leave Rassy's for a couple loops of HillSide and Roller Coaster. Riding in tomorrow and stopping after we pick up Izzy at thee Urbandale schools swimming pool for a Izzy dip. We ride right by it on the commute home and there never seems to be anyone there....

Thee Doc said ride your bike yesterday so I did....that Doc knows his shit cause amazingly I felt much better after a couple of hours on the Monkey. If you haven't seen the damage to Seven Oaks MTB Trail take a look....cause it sucks.

Taco Ride/Farmers Market

5 of us rolled out of Rassy's parking lot Wednesday night for the Taco Ride...the trails are in great shape....you should have been there:) Was awesome to have Sterling out on the ride:)

Lastnight Teri, Izzy, Bianchi and I walked the 4 blocks to the Valley Junction Farmers Market for some beers, food, and music. What a perfect night. Tonight is the Chica Ride so get yer asses out there with the hottest ladies in town:) 6pm at the Pool parking lot.

Prep For Ragbrai

We leave the shop at 3pm Friday for the hell week:) Ragbrai prep for me is purdy easy throw some clothes in a bag, grab a bike, and roll:) Now all the shit we have to gather for the shop rolling out of town for a week is a whole lotta work. Rassy boys been doing this for more then 20 years I think they have some what of a regimen...at least of some sort:) No commuting this week, to much on the list to do...I'll be riding everyday of the fun ride....Sammy and I are rolling the singles. Long days and very short nights....legs should hate me when I'm done:)

Awesome TR Last Night

Boo Yah....excellent ride last night....temps were perfect. I busted out of the house at 5pm too ride & hide the midway beverages for those of us NOT training:) On my way back too the shop I ran into Cam and Jed out for a ride...bs'd it a little then on my way. Thee group was looking good at the shop, then Sammy shows up with out his shoes......you dip shit....last week it was his helmet and gloves:) So we waited for our favorite peurto rican buddy to get his shoes, once back we rolled. Roll call was, Basso, Lou, Sammy, Sean, Jeff, Al, Chris (first timer), Homebrew, and Doug...then we met Lebeda out on the trail.

I think I had 9 beers lastnight....holy shit I didn't want to get up this morning....so needless to say I didn't commute and the weather this morning was perfect for it 58 degrees when I jumped into the jeep.....oh well next time:)

Stupid Customer.....lady comes in wants a rear wheel for an old bike...she has no fucking clue what type of bike it is other then old....(me)ok....she had the measurements of said wheel....we get her wheel down and ask if she wants us to take the cluster off the old "10spd" and put it on the new wheel....rudely she say's....well how hard could it be???? You should know I just put an alternator on the truck yesterday, a radiator in last week, and rotated all 4 tires a month ago....so really, is it harder then that....(me thinking)...thats great....but a fucking 9/16, 5/8, and a fucking creseant wrench ain't gonna do shit for you and that cluster bitch.....what I actually said....well if you did all that then you know about those "special tools" you need sometimes....right??..., you know the one that only gets used once every 5 years....right??....see this splinned little tool here....if you don't have this that cluster isn't going to come off....(her rudely again)......did you just hear what I said.....it can't be that hard.....(me)....ok.....Martha will check you out.......(me thinking).....GOOD FUCKING LUCK BITCH, SEE YOU SOON:)....Have a nice afternoon:)

Another Good Weekend

Saturday Teri Sue went too get her hair done up so Izzy and I tooled around the neighborhood in the burley. We did some house chores, then just played until Teri got back home. Afternoon brought on the heat of the day so we broke out the pool for Izzy's first swim....other then the bathtub:) Izzy loves the water, after 30 minutes or so playing in the pool we went in...the heat had sucked all the energy out of Izzy and she fell a sleep in her bouncer as soon as she hit it:)






Sunday brought a great morning for an 8am ride through the Center. Saturday the CITA boy's knocked out the rest of the mowing in Denmans so it was fast and clean...although the random 4 or 5 little logs in a row on the trail suck.....if your going to make an obstacle at least put a little time into it and make it work with the trail.....those logs blow ass and create a wider tread as most look to be shooting right around them. Justin, Doug Shaw, Teri, and Jeff....did I just say Doug Shaw....hell most of you that read this don't even know this old schooler....he is one of the original 4 Rasmussen Racing mates and is trying too get back into the swing of our local MTB sceen. Got off track there, well we all threw down a lap...excluding Squirrels Nest, hit Rhythm up and it felt like riding the "Horse Poop Loop" that is Petersen Pitts in case you didn't know my name for it....sand...sand....and a whole lot more sand. A good hot morning....just in time to prepare for the heat of Ragbrai:)

On out last loop of the hillside I caught a stick in the front wheel......yeah you know what happens next:) Broke 2 spokes and ate some dirt....leg is sore today....hopefully be riding in tomorrow rain or shine:)
