34 Degrees & 8mph NW Wind= A Cool Mornings Commute

Looks like my riding time will be consisting of the commute to work and perhaps a longer route home on some days. I miss the bike.....and since our Izzy came into the world I don't feel like riding after work.....well I feel like it but I choose to try and give Teri a break....after being with baby all day I'm sure what little I do when I get home may seem like alot.....or not.
I don't much like riding into work this time of the year as its dark the whole route in, I like to be at work around or before 6:30am.....some of our bruthas and sistas in this area that have been killed seem to be those commuting into work or just throwing down an early morning workout. I would like to think that I pay purdy damn close attention to what the fuck is going on around me at all times when commuting the streets. But you just never know, nor do I spend much thinking time running those 5 words through me tiny skull. So I light up the back of the bike with a red blinky the back of me messanger bag has reflective tape and a blinky tied to it, I'm running a bright front light, wearing a neon green wind vest, and still I'm almost to work and this dude rolls up to me and says he can barely see me..... He was polite and sincerly telling me this.....wtf else can I do...... jesus I feel like I should be able too be seen with all of this bright blinky shit strapped too me!!
Any way I guess I might find some more reflective tape for the bottom of me bag to sew on...other then that I guess I'd better be keeping a keen eye out.
Gonna be 55 out when I head home....sawheat!!

Peace

Two suggestions....1) have Terri watch you ride down the street at night. I found that when I put the messenger bag on my back that the blinkie was pointing straight up. 2)Illumilight clothing. I got a jacket that I always ride with. Several motorist friends have told me that I look like a firefly as they approach me at night.

After next Sunday's change in daylight saving time -- I'm going to have the reverse problem since I don't get to leave until after 6p.m. and it will be getting dark around 5:30. I'm seriously considering buying some of those battery powered Christmas lights and draping them all over my backpack.

Dinotte headlight and tail lights on blink mode. If the cagers can't see those, they shouldn't be out on the road.

This is also an option for a stylin guy like you Squirrel.

How do i get to my old stuff said...

that pic is just scary, squirrel... but what I was going to say was .... I read about this commuter who took a front headlight thing, attached it to his rack pointing at his back so his reflective gear was lit up all the time -- didn't wait for the car lights to do it. Never tried it myself, but I think if you cut your reflective special shape... you should be good to go. :)
