Ouachita Weekend

Lots to cover but it will have to wait a few days, my uncle passed while I was away. A full fun filled report will come by this weekend. In short, I DNF'd due to my achillies...just wasn't going to happen. Trans Iowa will now not be happening for me, I'm going to take a month or more off the bike too take care of my achillies problem. Not too worried about it I'd rather take time off voluntarily, rather then a full season due too my stupidity.

Peace

Sorry about your loss.

Sucks ass about your achilles! No Trans-Iowa? I don't think I'd have the strength to tell myself no. Good on you to know better. No need to hobble yourself permanently. Happy healing and I hope to ride with you soon.

sorry about your loss buddy.

and I'm sorry your race ended the way it did.

I was super stoked to come across you at mile 12, I thought I was doing great, till I realized you were done...

it was still purdy sweet having you, Rob, and Len right there to enjoy a beer on the side of the trail and cheer people on for a bit...

There is a nebraska contingant already talking about next year. I know Syd and I are down for sure... need to go an extra day earlier and get some more epic riding in the area done...

enjoy those lone stars. I did on the ride home...

Sorry to here about you Achilles, I've been there, in fact past there, I completely tore mine. The most important thing to do with any case of tendonitis, which is probably what you have is to stick with a regiment of anti-inflamatories like Advil, ice, and compression, get one of those ankle braces it will help stabilize the tendon. You should be able to still ride provided that you use a very easy gear and spin on a nice flat trail or road. Six weeks after Dr. Breedlove operated on my Achilles he had me ride my mountain bike on a trainer with a rear slick of course.
Ice is very important as it really helps reduce the inflammation. Good Luck

Sad news about your uncle. You have my condolences.

Great to hang with you, Dennis and the rest of crew for a bit at Ouachita. That place is awesome. Plan on going back next year for sure.

Take it easy for awhile and heal up. Get that Achilles checked out and keep your chin up buddy. Sitting out TI is probably a good idea. Your positive vibe will be missed at TI, but at least you'll be able to ride later this year. Let me know if I can help.

Squirrel,

Sorry to hear about your uncle. It sucks not attending an event due to injury, but you are definitely making the right choice. Get into someone who knows sports injuries and get it looked at.

So sorry to hear about your uncle.

Taking time off sucks. Want me to teach you how to knit???

Seriously, a hurt wrist, a hurt achillies... they get better. Things could be much worse.

Sorry about your uncle. Yup. I'll raise a pint to him and yer family.

Sorry to see you drop TI, but taking care of yourself is more important. Like GT, I was hopin' to yap and share a nip of whiskey in the middle of the night, 200+ miles in, and fried like a chicken in Alabama.
