Grandma Turned 84/Black Rasberry Pie!!:)
Grandma and I (this pic is a year old)
Yesterday afternoon Teri and I headed down to Williamson, Ia for my Grandma's 84th B-day. Me mum had called to tell me my Uncles would be joining us for cake and ice cream at 3pm. Grandma isn't felling the best right now so we kept it to a couple hours and then left. While there some of the neighbors came over with cards and goodies, folks that knew me as the little boy stealing tomatoes out of their gardens, grapes off of their vines, shooting the school windows out with me bow and arrow, and setting the churches oak tree on fire. All good stories about back in the day:)
During our conversations I'd brought up that Teri and I have been picking black rasberries and I wanted to know how to make a pie:) Now we all know that Grandma knows all about making pies'. I remember how good those black rasberry pies' where and all the stories about the Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins rumageing through the briars picking gallon ice cream buckets full of berries to be turned into pie on many of my childhood weekends. When the answer rolls off of Grandmas tongue it sounds so simple(making a few hundered pies, I guess it would)......lots of black rasberries, corn starch, and sugar...oh and pie crust of course. You see the pies' you get at the store are ok(easy and when available), there seems to be alot of pie filling and not alot of berries though. This weekend will be the test of my pie making abilities. Wish me luck:) I leave you with this mornings b-fast shot:)
Black Rasberries and Banana Nut Crunch
This whole pie episode started from Annie the Lady Velo and her obsession with pie:)
